Will.I.Am believes that Black Thought is a better rapper than JAY-Z. In fact, he thinks that The Roots frontman is “a trillion” times better than Hov.
During an episode of Sway’s in the Morning. Will.I.Am shared why Black Thought is the superior MC.
“Seeing Black Thought, what he’s capable of just off the top,” explained Will.I.Am. “Don’t get me wrong, but Jay has already said everything. He’s just regurgitating what he already said.”
“Everything that Black Thought comes up with, it’s like, ‘Wow, I never heard that one,’” he continued. “A lot of people would say, ‘What the f**k do you know about hip-hop, Will.I.Am?’ I don’t give a f**k what you think.”
Will’s remarks caught the attention of Jadakiss, who responded on his Joe and Jada podcast with Fat Joe. According to Jada, Will is trying to cause division for clicks.
“Leave our f**king culture alone,” Jada continued. “That’s my opinion. Because you’re starting off some sh*tand then he’s going to be in the state-of-the-art hills somewhere making cars… We need no more nuclear bombs set off in hip-hop unless it’s called for. This guy’s a rich tech…he makes cars.”
“He should have kept his thoughts to himself,” Jada said.
But Kiss wasn’t done. He went to explain how these types of debates only happen in hip-hop music and not in other genres.
You’re never going to hear a rapper say f***ing Coldplay is a million times better than the Black Eyed Peas. They put that out there, and that’s the reason that hip-hop is hanging on a string,” Jadakis continued.
“They’re f***ing making everybody go against each other for no reason. Just for small talk and clicks and to get the most traffic to your thing. If that’s how he feels, f**k it. That’s how he feels,” Jada added. “You can Google, ChatGPT, whatever the f**k you want. You’re not going to find Hov or Black Thought nowhere saying, ‘The Backstreet Boys are a trillion times better than *NSYNC.”
