Lil Nas X will not be walking free anytime soon after being taken into custody in Los Angeles this week. Authorities confirmed that the chart-topping artist must remain behind bars until at least Monday, when a judge is expected to review his case and decide on bail.

The incident began in the early hours of Thursday morning. Around 4 a.m., drivers on Ventura Boulevard noticed the rapper drifting through the middle of the street. One witness captured him on video pointing at the camera, rambling about heading to a party, and at one point balancing a bright orange traffic cone on his head.

Police officers arrived soon after and attempted to make contact. Officials say that when they approached, Lil Nas X suddenly ran toward them. Officers restrained him, placed him in handcuffs, and alerted paramedics who believed he might be suffering from an overdose. He was transported to a nearby hospital for a short evaluation before being booked into jail.

Because he was arrested on suspicion of battery on a police officer, the case automatically requires a court appearance. Unlike minor violations that allow a quick citation and release, this charge is considered more serious, which means he cannot post bail until a judge sets the terms. According to TMZ, court officials explained that with a backlog of cases ahead of him, the earliest he will see a judge is Monday.

So far, the musician’s representatives have not spoken publicly about the arrest or his condition. Until the hearing takes place, Lil Nas X will remain in custody as fans and the industry wait to see how the situation develops.
