Flo Milli has stepped into her newest role with joy and determination: being a mother. The Alabama rapper welcomed her first child, a baby boy named Sixx, in April, and since then she has been balancing music with the responsibilities of raising her son.
In an interview with Billboard, she talks about how motherhood has brought her both surprises and fulfillment. “It’s been great. Everything, plus more than I expected from it. It’s just cool having a mini-you. It’s just such a blessing. I literally love my son so much,” she said, reflecting on her journey so far. For Flo, every stage has been exciting, from watching Sixx flip over and crawl to hearing his baby talk and seeing his fascination with Mickey Mouse. “They literally grow every two days and they do something new. Like, it’s just amazing.”
Having Sixx has also shifted her outlook as an artist. Flo admitted that before becoming a mom, her career was something she pursued for herself, but now her work holds a deeper purpose. “It definitely made me go harder, because now I got somebody to not only look after, but I have to set an example to show you can do anything you put your mind to, whether it’s music or not,” she explained. She added that the responsibility has made her more serious and focused on her craft.
She has already tried introducing Sixx to her music, though he has yet to realize that it is his mother on the screen. Support from fellow artists has also meant a lot. Megan Thee Stallion gifted Flo items from her registry, including a bassinet that she uses often. Flo laughed that although she received plenty of gifts, she still cannot resist buying extra things for her son, calling herself a frequent Amazon shopper.
