Authorities have identified the suspected gunman in the fatal shooting of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, a Utah resident now in police custody.

Officials confirmed Robinson’s arrest on Friday after a multi-day manhunt. Law enforcement credited both family members and community cooperation for helping bring the suspect in.

According to reports, Robinson’s father recognized him in images circulated by investigators and urged his son to turn himself in. Shortly thereafter, a family friend contacted authorities after being told of Robinson’s alleged involvement.

Investigation Continues:

Authorities are still piecing together Robinson’s motive. Early reports suggest investigators are reviewing political writings and possible ideological motivations, though no official statement has been made.

Officials have not confirmed whether Robinson acted alone or if others may have been involved in the planning or execution of the attack. Forensic evidence, including bullet casings and other materials, is still under review.

FBI Director Kash Patel said Friday, “To my friend Charlie Kirk: Rest now, brother. We have the watch and I’ll see you in Valhalla.”

“As the governor said, and we will continue to work with state and local authorities to develop the investigation, to provide them the evidence they need for their ongoing prosecutions. And we will be here to answer every call they absolutely have, as long as it takes, for as long as we need to find and apprehend whatever suspects were involved in this crime,” Patel added.
