Dame Dash and Jay-Z’s long history together has fueled plenty of rumors, but one story has always stood out: that Dash once tried to pursue Beyoncé. In a recent conversation with The Art of Dialogue, Dash addressed the speculation directly and said it never happened.
“ Nah. I would never try to talk to another man’s wife,” he stated. Dash recalled meeting Beyoncé briefly during a Victoria’s Secret show, where he may have gotten her number, but he insisted that nothing came from it. In his view, she was still early in her career and not yet the global superstar she would soon become. “To me she was like a little girl,” he explained. “I don’t want to say this because it’ll trigger too much. But I never tried to talk to her after that.”
He went even further, explaining that he avoided her music to remove temptation. “I don’t even listen to Beyoncé records because I don’t want to want to f*ck her,” Dash admitted. “I don’t want to see her shake her body. Even though Jay, I still consider him my brother… I don’t even really know what she looks like.”
Dash then broke down the personal rules he lived by regarding women who had been with Jay-Z. “I never looked at one of his girls and said, ‘I’mma smash her.’ That never happened. Once he would hit the chick, then I’m not f*cking with her,” he said. According to him, women sometimes picked Jay-Z, and sometimes they chose him.
When Aaliyah’s name came up, Dash explained that both he and Jay-Z were interested, but the singer chose him. “We were both going at her, but she chose me,” Dash revealed. “That’s all. But it wasn’t like I was trying to take his girl. I mean, he might have had PTSD because of that… You know, I can’t help how a girl feels.”
