Pooh Shiesty’s legal troubles have taken a new turn. The rapper—real name Lontrell D. Williams Jr.—was arrested on Wednesday by federal officers in Dallas, Texas, TMZ reports. Hours earlier, FBI officials had conducted a raid on his Memphis home. Amid the raid, the rapper’s father, Lontrell D. Williams Sr., was also placed in custody. Sources tell TMZ the rapper has been booked in connection with a criminal case. However, the charges against the rapper, along with his father, have yet to be revealed. A press conference has been scheduled for later today. This is a developing story.

It’s only been a few months since the rapper was released from federal prison after serving over five years in connection with a 2020 Florida shooting. The rapper received an early release back in October 2025 after a combination of time served and good behavior. During a March interview with XXL, the rapper opened up about how prison gave him a new approach to recording music.

“Before I went to jail, I wasn’t writing at all,” he tells XXL. “I was just punching in and just going to the microphone.” However, that shifted once he was inside, he says. “But when I went in, I just been writing, writing, writing, writing, like, whatever free time I get to the point to where, you know, I got raps that’s taller than me, that’s up to my hips.”

Born in 1999 in South Memphis, Pooh Shiesty came up from humble beginnings. By age 18, he had begun embarking on his music career. A few years later, he would make his commercial debut alongside fellow Memphis rapper Big30 with “Hell Night.” After releasing several more singles, including “At It Again” and “Main Slime,” the rapper caught the attention of Gucci Mane. He was signed by the rapper’s 1017 label in a joint venture with Atlantic Records in 2020.
