Megan Thee Stallion will conclude her highly publicized stint in “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” on Broadway two weeks earlier than originally scheduled, citing an updated departure date of May 1.

The hip-hop star, who made her Broadway debut as Harold Zidler at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, was initially slated to perform the role through May 17. However, she announced Monday that her eight-week engagement will now end this Friday. In a statement addressing her departure, the performer expressed deep gratitude for the theatrical community and her fans.

“Hotties, my last performance as Zidler in @moulinrougebway will be May 1. It’s been such an honor to be part of thee Moulin Rouge family and I’ve met so many amazing people in this theater!”

“Y’all work so hard and I have so much respect for the dedication, the stamina, the work ethic, the time and the effort y’all put into the work! I’m so grateful for the cast and crew that made this experience so meaningful.”

“And to all the Hotties that showed up or planned to attend, thank you for supporting me during this incredible journey! I LOVE YALL..See you soon”

The early exit follows a brief health scare that occurred shortly after her run began on March 24. During a performance on March 31, the artist fell ill and was transported to a local hospital. She later informed fans that she had been suffering from extreme exhaustion, dehydration and low metabolic levels. Despite the medical emergency, she returned to the stage just two days later to continue her run.

“Moulin Rouge! The Musical” was previously set to close earlier in the summer, but strong ticket sales led to a five-week extension. The production is now scheduled to play its final performance on Aug. 30, concluding a successful seven-year run on Broadway.

The musical, based on the 2001 Baz Luhrmann film, has become a staple of the New York theater scene since its premiere in 2019.
