Young Thug Reflects on Rich Homie Quan Relationship in Throwback Post

Young Thug is reflecting on his complex relationship with the late Rich Homie Quan, asserting in a recent social media post that his loyalty to his former collaborator never wavered despite years of public estrangement.

Thug shared a nostalgic photograph of the pair from their early career days, fueling a conversation about the legacy of their short-lived but highly influential duo. “Never switched on u brada always road with u what happened,” Young Thug wrote in the caption of the post, accompanied by emotional emojis.

His statement seeks to clarify a decade of rumors regarding a fallout between the two Atlanta stars, who dominated the hip-hop charts in 2014 as the core members of the Rich Gang collective. The duo skyrocketed to fame with the hit single “Lifestyle,” but they drifted apart as their individual solo careers began to take precedence.

Young Thug previously explained that the distance grew because they both matured into their own careers. Rich Homie Quan, whose legal name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, passed away unexpectedly while in the midst of a career resurgence. His death left many fans mourning the fact that the two never officially reconciled in a publicly.

Young Thug has since expressed deep sorrow over the missed opportunity to heal their bond, admitting during a recent appearance on a livestream with Adin Ross that he wished they could have made amends sooner. In the days prior to his death, Rich Homie Quan had also signaled an openness to reconnecting. During an interview, the “Flex” rapper mentioned that while he was unsure if the two would ever record new music.

Thug has continued to keep his former partner’s memory alive through musical tributes. During a prominent performance at Coachella, he incorporated several of their shared hits into his setlist, a move fans viewed as a proper homage to the era that defined mid-2010s Atlanta rap.
