Tyla is putting rumors to rest following a viral video from Monday night’s Met Gala that appeared to show an awkward exchange between her and Rihanna.
The “Water” singer took to social media to clarify the interaction after fans speculated that the Fenty Beauty mogul had intentionally snubbed the rising star. The footage, which circulated widely across X and TikTok, showed Tyla approaching Rihanna outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
In the clip, the conversation appeared brief and ended abruptly, leading some social media users to suggest there was tension between the two artists. Tyla, however, explained that the situation was far more mundane than the internet narrative suggested.
“I met her, but I think she was occupied,” Tyla said in a video addressing the moment. “I went up to her and was like, ‘Oh hey, you know,’ and she was like, ‘Hey, um… my baby daddy’s calling me,’ and then she left. I was like, Oop!” Tyla confirmed that Rihanna’s partner, A$AP Rocky, was simply ready to depart, prompting the quick exit.
