New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson already has his next challenge announced after winning the team’s first NBA championship in 51 years against the San Antonio Spurs and being named the NBA Finals MVP. On Saturday night, he revealed his aspirations to be on Law & Order: SVU with Olivia Benson, played by actress Mariska Hargitay.
When asked what comes next following the Knicks’ historic victory, Brunson delivered an answer that quickly went viral.
“Try to get on, try to go to ‘SVU,’” Brunson said, referencing NBC’s long-running crime drama, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”
The comment resonated with Knicks fans familiar with Brunson’s admiration for Mariska. Hargitay has become a regular presence at Madison Square Garden and one of the Knicks’ most visible celebrity supporters throughout their championship run.
Following New York’s title-clinching win, Hargitay celebrated on Instagram by sharing a childhood photo of Brunson wearing Knicks colors and holding a basketball. The image included the message, “You found a way.”

“And you lead the way for so many,” Hargitay wrote. “Congratulations to you all and deepest thanks. #NBAFINALS CAPTAIN @jalenbrunson1 @nyknicks CHAMPIONS #BELIEVE.”
The exchange highlighted a friendship that has become a favorite storyline among Knicks fans. Brunson previously discussed Hargitay on “The Richard Jefferson Show,” where he admitted he searches for her in the crowd during home games.
“Love her to death, and she knows it,” Brunson said.
The Knicks star has even jokingly referred to himself as Hargitay’s “No. 1” fan.
Hargitay attended several key playoff games this season, including Eastern Conference Finals matchups and multiple NBA Finals contests. During Game 3, she sat courtside with longtime “SVU” co-star Christopher Meloni. She was also spotted celebrating a Finals victory alongside Taylor Swift.
For now, Brunson has already achieved the ultimate basketball goal by leading the Knicks to an NBA title. Whether a cameo on “Law & Order: SVU” follows may be the next chapter in an unforgettable year.
