JAŸ-Z & Brooklyn Public Library Drop “Reasonable Doubt” Library Card

Three decades after Reasonable Doubt changed the trajectory of hip-hop, JAŸ-Z is returning to one of Brooklyn’s most beloved institutions to celebrate the album that launched a dynasty.

Ahead of his three-night run at Yankee Stadium this summer, the rap mogul has partnered once again with the Brooklyn Public Library and Roc Nation to honor the 30th anniversary of his landmark 1996 debut. The collaboration will introduce a JAŸ-Z 30 Limited Edition Library Card, a collectible tribute to an album widely considered one of the greatest rap releases ever recorded.

Released on June 25, 1996, Reasonable Doubt established JAY-Z as a gifted storyteller with an unmatched ability to blend street narratives, ambition, and sharp lyricism. Thirty years later, the project remains a benchmark for hip-hop excellence and continues to influence artists across generations.

The new library card expands a relationship that began with the blockbuster Book of HOV exhibition in 2023. Hosted at the Brooklyn Public Library’s Grand Army Plaza branch, the immersive exhibit chronicled JAY-Z’s rise from Brooklyn’s Marcy Houses to global icon status. Fans flocked to the installation, which featured rare memorabilia, career-spanning artifacts, and the rapper’s legendary 1993 Lexus GS 300.

The latest collaboration arrives on June 25, the exact date Reasonable Doubt was released. Beginning that day, fans can obtain the commemorative library card at Brooklyn Public Library locations. Available while supplies last.

The celebration extends beyond the collectible. At the Marcy Library branch, visitors can explore “JAŸ-Z’s Bookshelf.” It’s a curated collection of books that influenced the rapper’s personal and professional journey.

Roc Nation donated the titles. It offers readers a glimpse into the ideas and literature that helped shape one of hip-hop’s most influential minds.

More than a tribute to an album, the initiative underscores JAY-Z’s enduring ties to Brooklyn. It also highlights the lasting power of Reasonable Doubt. The record’s impact continues to resonate 30 years after its release.
