A spokesperson for the singer confirmed Sunday that Grande intends to prioritize her well-being following the final curtain call on Sept. 1. The decision comes after months of social media speculation and tabloid headlines focusing on her weight and slender frame, particularly following the release of her recent “Petal” music video.
“Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour,” a representative said in a statement. “She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny.”
The hiatus will result in significant changes to Grande’s upcoming professional schedule. The performer has officially withdrawn from the highly anticipated West End revival of Stephen Sondheim’s “Sunday in the Park with George.” She was originally slated to lead the production in London next summer, but those plans have been scrapped to accommodate her period of rest. Despite the rumors surrounding her health, those close to the “Eternal Sunshine” artist emphasize that she has maintained a rigorous and successful performance schedule.
