James Harden’s misdemeanor charge has been dropped by theHarris County (Texas) District Attorney’s Office.
According to The Athletic, the motion to dismiss the charges was officially filed on Thursday. Harden “completed an alternative resolution agreement,” per a court document.
Details of the “alternative resolution agreement” remain unclear. The Athletic has contacted the district attorney’s office for comment and will update this report once more information becomes available.
Police arrested Harden, 36, early on the morning of June 13. He was booked into the Harris County Jail and freed after posting a $100 bond. According to court records, the terms of his release bar him from owning firearms and consuming alcohol, marijuana, or other controlled substances without a prescription. Additionally, he must submit to random urine tests.

Widely regarded as one of the most dynamic offensive forces in basketball history, Harden built an elite NBA resume defined by scoring brilliance and elite playmaking. After winning the 2011–12 NBA Sixth Man of the Year award with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Harden blossomed into a perennial superstar following his trade to the Houston Rockets.
His prime reached its peak during the 2017–18 season, when he was named the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) after leading the league in scoring. Over the course of his career, “The Beard” has earned 11 NBA All-Star selections, seven All-NBA Team honors (including six First Team selections), three consecutive scoring titles (2018–2020), and two assist titles (2017, 2023).
Known for revolutionizing the step-back three-pointer and mastering isolation play, Harden is one of only a few players in league history to record a 60-point triple-double. He was also named to the prestigious NBA 75th Anniversary Team as one of the 75 greatest players of all time.
Currently, Harden is a free agent, but it is expected to resign with the Cleveland Cavaliers this offseason.
