Hip-hop legend Too $hort is already looking ahead to Sean “Diddy” Combs’ eventual release from federal prison. The West Coast veteran says he plans to attend the mogul’s welcome-home celebration.
Too $hort discussed Combs during a recent appearance on The TMZ Podcast. The conversation came while promoting his latest album, Sir Too $hort Vol. 2.
“I’m going to the Puff Daddy coming home party,” Too $hort told host Towanda Robinson.
Combs is currently serving his sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. His projected release date has reportedly moved up to Jan. 21, 2028.
Too $hort remains supportive of Combs despite condemning the violence shown in a 2016 hotel surveillance video involving singer Cassie Ventura.
“I judge him for that,” Too $hort said of the footage.

The rapper distinguished that incident from Combs’ private sexual conduct. Too $hort said his experiences around the Bad Boy Records founder involved music, parties, marijuana and social gatherings.
Too $hort also questioned whether Combs should remain incarcerated for the conduct behind his federal conviction. A jury convicted Combs on two prostitution-related counts while acquitting him of racketeering and sex trafficking charges.
The verdict followed a high-profile federal trial that examined Combs’ relationships, business activities and private life. The hotel footage also became a major part of the public conversation surrounding the case.
Now, Too $hort believes Combs should consider his next move carefully. He referenced Bill Cosby’s attempted return to entertainment after his release from prison.
Too $hort suggested Combs avoid making an immediate, high-profile comeback. Instead, he floated a quieter option involving another hip-hop mogul.
His advice included possibly moving to Bali and spending time with Russell Simmons.
For Too $hort, however, one thing remains certain. Whenever Combs leaves FCI Fort Dix, he expects a celebration.
“I’m going to the Puff Daddy coming home party,” he reiterated.
