Diddy was rushed from a federal correctional institution to a nearby medical facility early Saturday morning following an emergency involving a head injury.
The music mogul, who is currently serving time at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, was reportedly transported by ambulance around 1 a.m. Sources familiar with the situation said the injury was not considered life-threatening. Combs remained conscious and was able to speak with medical personnel throughout the ordeal. He was treated for his injuries and returned to the prison grounds before sunrise on Saturday morning. It remains unclear exactly how the 56-year-old artist sustained the head injury. The incident comes during a particularly turbulent period for Combs, who has faced numerous challenges while incarcerated.
Representatives for the Federal Bureau of Prisons have not yet commented on the specific nature of the emergency. The medical scare follows reports that Combs was recently moved to a special housing unit. The transfer occurred after allegations surfaced that the rapper was enjoying unauthorized luxuries behind bars, including access to massages, alcohol and a prohibited cellphone containing nude photographs. Combs has also dealt with physical altercations during his sentence. In July, he was reportedly involved in a fight with another inmate, an incident that led to a temporary stint in solitary confinement.
The ongoing disciplinary and safety concerns appear to be impacting his timeline for release. Recent judicial records indicate that the hip-hop star’s projected release date has been delayed. Originally scheduled for release in January 2028, his date was recently pushed back several weeks to March 2028. This news follows a legal blow in which Combs was ordered to pay nearly $500,000 in attorneys’ fees to NBCUniversal.
While Combs remains under medical observation back at the facility, the circumstances of his time at Fort Dix continue to draw intense public scrutiny.
The investigation into the cause of the head injury is ongoing. Officials at the New Jersey facility are expected to review surveillance footage to determine if the injury was accidental or the result of another physical confrontation with fellow inmates.
