A judge has ordered rapper Kevin Gates to distribute more than $1 million from the sale of his music catalog to his estranged wife, Dreka Gates, as their contentious legal battle nears a resolution.
The ruling marks a significant development in a divorce proceeding that has been defined by public accusations of theft and disputes over the legality of the couple’s union. According to court documents obtained by media outlets, the proceeds from the catalog sale will be funneled into a specialized Morgan Stanley account managed by Robert Bracy, the chief financial officer of the rapper’s company, Bread Winner Alumni LLC.
The court has specifically mandated that Kevin Gates be barred from having any administrative control over the account, appointing certified public accountant William Duerksen as the only other authorized individual to manage the funds. From the total sale price, Dreka Gates is set to receive $929,341.50 designated for child and spousal support.
In addition to the support payments, the judge ordered an immediate direct payment of $150,000 to her. The settlement also covers substantial administrative and legal costs, including $125,000 for her attorney fees, $100,000 for her accountant and $103,000 for mediation services through Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services. Kevin Gates, known for hits like “2 Phones,” will not be left empty-handed. The order stipulates that he will receive an upfront payment of $538,798, followed by monthly installments of $225,000 beginning this October.
The division of assets comes after Dreka Gates filed for divorce last year, claiming the rapper had ceased financial support for her and their two children as far back as 2021. The legal proceedings have been notably hostile. During the dispute, Kevin Gates alleged that his marriage was not legally binding and accused his wife’s family of embezzling funds. He further claimed that stolen money was used to launch a business venture that failed shortly after opening. Conversely, Dreka’s legal team has dismissed these claims, calling them “completely false and fabricated.” A
mid the financial disputes, the rapper has faced criticism for his public comments regarding the mother of his children. He previously labeled his estranged wife a “goddess of manipulation and darkness” and denied allegations that he was a “deadbeat” parent. The court-ordered payment schedule is intended to settle the outstanding financial obligations between the parties while their divorce is finalized.
The specific valuation of the total catalog sale was not disclosed in the available legal documents, but the multi-million dollar distribution plan suggests a significant acquisition price. Representatives for both Kevin and Dreka Gates have not issued new public statements following the judge’s most recent order.
