This is sad. Former NBA basketball player, Andre Emmett, was killed early Monday morning.
According to BET, Emmett was sitting in his car when two unidentified men approached the car with handguns. Emmett allegedly got into a dispute with the men before being shot. Emmett’s body was found a few feet away from his home and was pronounced dead at the hospital from a single gunshot wound.
Two men were seen getting away in a white Chrysler 300. Emmett played for the Memphis Grizzlies, the then-New Jersey Nets, and the BIG3.
The BIG3 and his alma mater, Texas Tech shared their condolences on Twitter. See below.
The BIG3 is in a state of shock over the sudden and tragic death of Andre Emmett. Andre was a member of the BIG3 family for two seasons and never without a smile on his face. His kindness towards others and easy-going demeanor made him a joy to be around. pic.twitter.com/QoNJ7NH2k0
