This is dope!
Jay Z and Will Smith are working with ABC to tell the story of Emmit Till from his mother’s perspective.
Reported on Billboard, “the story has been picked up by ABC as part of the civil rights anthology series Women of the Movement.” The show will “center around Till-Mobley reliving the horror of her son’s 1955 Mississippi lynching and arrive in the form of an eight-episode first season, which will loosely be based on Devery S. Anderson’s book Emmett Till: The Murder That Shocked the World and Propelled the Civil Rights Movement.”
An Emmit Till biopic was in the works but the passing of John Singleton has slowed the process.
