Solange Knowles was not here for her big sister Beyonce losing “Album of the Year” to Adele at the 59th Grammy Awards Sunday night. She sided with Frank Ocean after he took to Tumblr to share his thoughts about Bey’s loss to Adele. These two were not alone as Kendrick Lamar was also displeased with the win.
Solang tweeted the link to Frank’s thoughts while saying ,
“wuddup frank,”
She then tweeted that only two black artists have won Album of the Year within the last two decades which is false. There were actually four in the past 20 years, Herbie Hancock (2008), Ray Charles (2005), Outkast (2004), and Lauryn Hill (1999). She also tweeted urging others to “build their own institutions” so they can “be the gold [they] wanna hold.” Both tweets were eventually deleted.
