The main goal for everyone right now is to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Today (March 30) Virginia Governor Ralph Northam issued an order effective immediately for residents to stay at home. The order is until June 10, but residents are allowed to get essential needs like food and medicine.

Last week, some of VA’s 8.5 million residents PACKED beaches, showing that they’re not taking the deadly global pandemic seriously. Beaches will remain open but only for exercise or fishing.

Gov. Northam said in a Tweet,

“Today I’m issuing a Stay at Home order, effective immediately. Our message to Virginians is clear—stay home. These actions are necessary to protect public health and slow the spread of #COVID19.”

He also said during the conference,

“We are at the beginning of a period of sacrifice. We need everyone to take this seriously and act responsibly, and we will get through this together.”

Non-essential businesses are still to remain closed and gatherings of more than 10 people are not allowed. Health officials in Virginia have reported 1,020 confirmed coronavirus cases and 25 deaths as of now.
