Now that Women’s Month is winding down, it’s only right that we highlight the achievements made this month.

Women from across the world celebrated women’s day and some made history during the process.

1. Missy Elliot

This year, Missy became the first female hip-hop artist to receive an honorary Doctorate Degree from Berklee College of Music. She will receive the honor May 11th.

Other prestigious names to win this achievement include B.B. King, Smokey Robinson, Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn, and Aretha Franklin. In January, Missy made history AGAIN by becoming the first female rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

2.  Jordan Emanuel

This year, Playboy gave her the title of Playmate of the year. This was groundbreaking for the magazine because, in their 59 years of existence, only four women of color were crowned.
