Hip hop and r&b was going strong in 2005. The southern movement in hip hop was in full swing, and one artist returned with a vengence.
Mariah Carey dominated much of the year with her hit single “We Belong Together.” Mario’s “Let Me Love You,” Snoop Dogg’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” and The Game & 50 Cent’s “How We Do” were other big hits during that time.
Destiny’s Child needed a “Soldier” so that they can “Cater 2 U.” Meanwhile Ciara had everyone shocked with her video for “Oh.”
