It’s safe to say when Summer Jam hit the mid-2000’s, it became its own beast.

2010 is by far one of our fan favorites.

The line up included Trey Songz, Ludacris, Juelz Santana, Nicki Minaj, Fabolous, Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek, DJ Khaled, Usher, and Gucci Mane.

If you forgot what it was like for that year in music from the Summer Jam artists, listen below:

Now that we took you back remember this also happened in 2010?

Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne began his 8-month sentence at Rikers Island after being convicted of criminal possession of a weapon that stemmed from an incident in 2007. Following his performance at the Beacon Theater in NYC, Wayne was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and marijuana.

What would come next is a bunch of “Letters From Weezy” via Weezythanxyou where he would pen open letters to his fans. This moment was significant because no one topped Lil Wayne when it came to the rap game during the mid-2000s so for him to be incarcerated during the peak of his career was just unfortunate.

A devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti crippling 3,000,000 people’s livelihood in the country. Here at HOT 97, we held a telethon to raise money for Haiti. The world also came to their aid; within 72 hours after the earthquake hit, $8 million was raised for the American Red Cross.

And 2010 belonged to Antoine Dodson who’s televised account of a robbery would spring out phrases like “You are so dumb” (which I use) and “hide yo kids,” and a Halloween costume.
