Once upon a time, there were two young girls from Miami, Florida, who decided to give this rap thing a try. Once it took off, just like that fans were introduced to the Yung Miami and JT known as the City Girls.

To date they have two of the hottest songs playing in heavy rotation on radio,“Act Up” and “Twerk” featuring Cardi B. But before they became raps biggest duo, did you know that pursuing music wasn’t a factor for Yung Miami?

Caresha Brownlee, (Yung Miami) was into fashion. She created her own Instagram account called Caresha’s Closet, where she sold dresses and wigs in pursuit of getting an endorsement or even creating her own fashion line. It wasn’t until 2017, when music came into play. Brownlee, partnered with Jatavia Johnson (JT), and began recording songs in JT’s father in-home studio. The first track that they laid down, “F*** Dat N***a”, started off as a joke but later when on to be a hit! That song is got 2 million views on YouTube.

Fast forward to 2018 when the two were featured on Drake’s hit “In My Feelings” which was playing everywhere at the time and even had its own dance, the City Girls been a non-stop rollercoaster for the duo ever since.

Although, the group had been experiencing some great levels of success, current member JT is currently in prison serving a two year sentence, but that isn’t stopping Yung Miami from getting to that bag. PERIODT.

The group will be hitting that Summer Jam stage. But in until then, watch their videos below.
