Megan Pete was born and raised in Houston, Texas. The rapper is not shy to the music industry, as her mother is rapper Holly Wood. Megan got a firsthand look into the industry; and had been writing music “since [she] was seven.” She began to gain attention on social media, once a video of her freestyling went viral. This wasn’t just an average freestyle video. Megan was going bar for bar amongst ten other rappers. Though, she was undeniably talented- her mother insisted she waited until she was 21 before she can take rap seriously.
Since, the 24-year-old has become a successful rap artist, being compared to artist such as Lil Kim. In 2018, the Houston native signed to record label 300 Entertainment, making her the first female artist to sign to the label. Megan is an inspiration to all girls around the world. While building her rap career, she also attended Texas Southern University, studying health administration.
The rapper released a mixtape in 2018, titled ‘Tina Snow.’ The mixtape is paying homage to Houston rap legend Pimp C’s and his alias ‘Tony Snow.’ It has generated over 11 million streams. Her hit single ‘Big Ole Freak’ has been blazing the airways and topping the charts. It even sparked a #BigOleFreak challenge on social media.
Megan took to her Instagram to announce she will be touching that legendary #Hot97SummerJam stage, and her fans went crazy. “Lets go to Jersey for this! We both [have] never been” commented one user.
