Every generation has a different story on how they fell in love with Hip Hop.

Since the mid-1980’s DJ Jazzy Jeff out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has been considered one of the most talented DJ’s in our history. He has won the Grammy Award twice alongside the “Fresh Prince” aka Will Smith. He also reached pop celebrity status as Will’s best friend on the 90’s hit sitcom ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.’

He looks back at his first loves of hip hop where his brothers showed him how to pick records up and start enjoying music. The first record he used on the turntables was a :45 of the 1980 hit single “Rappers Delight.”

Jazzy Jeff also looks back at idolizing Grandmaster Flash and getting his praise during a performance at The Dell in Philadelphia which gave him his crowning moment, and appreciating the early days of the culture and fighting to make sure it was sustainable through the years.
