Donald Trump has announced his plans to ban TikTok in the U.S. stating that it can happen as early as Saturday (August 1st).

While returning to Washington from a fundraising function in Florida, Trump stated, “As far as TikTok is concerned we’re banning them from the United States.” he continued, “I can do it with an executive order.”

Vanessa Pappas, the U.S. general manager of TikTok said that the video-sharing app isn’t going anywhere. Pappas addressed Trump’s announcement in a recent video. “We’re not planning on going anywhere. When it comes to safety and security we’re building the safest app because it’s the right thing to do.”

She also mentioned that if Trump goes through with the ban, then it will be taking thousands of jobs away from their employees. TikTok currently has 15,000 employees in America and wants to add 10,000 more in the years to come.
