This is why you’re seeing a lot of “Free Haiti” posts on social media.

Last week, tensions were high in Haiti after protestors called for the resignation of their current president, Jovenel Moise.

On March 12, four police officers and others were injured during an anti-gang gone wrong in a gang-controlled area. Village de Dieu is notorious for kidnapping victims and abusing them.

Video of the botched operation surfaced online. One video showed the killers dragging and beating two officers. Protests have been ongoing for weeks. The increase of crime urged some celebrities to step in and use their voice. Cardi B., Bobby Shmurda, Noname, Tory Lanez, and more gave light to the issue.
