Erica Banks was close to signing with DaBaby but decided not to.

She recently interviewed with Clinton Sparks and spoke on labels that were interested in signing her. Erica says Atlantic, Capitol, and DaBaby’s label had their eye on her. The “Toot That” rapper claims her mother convinced her not to sign with Billion Dollar Baby and suggested they wait for more offers. Erica said,

“I had already turned everybody down. I did not sign with DaBaby because I was very excited; it was my second offer; I was like, ‘hell yeah’. I was about to get all the planning done. But then I called my mom, like, ‘this is what I’m about to do, I’m about to sign with DaBaby.’ She’s like, ‘oh no, we need to slow down. This is only the second offer. We’re not [going to] just jump on whatever.’”

Erica says before she signed with 1501 and Warner, DaBaby wanted to fly her out to Los Angeles. Even though things didn’t work out, she has a lot of love for the “Suge” rapper. She said,

“We love DaBaby. Appreciate him. At the same time, he’s an artist just like me. So I just had to think about that too.” Take a look at a clip captured by the Neighborhood Talk Blog:

The Texas-born rapper is seeing a lot of success with her single “Buss It.” It dropped in 2020 but went viral earlier this year on Tik Tok. The #BussItChallenge quickly became an online movement, unifying women and allowing them to embrace their bodies. Celebs like LaLa, Chloe Bailey, Monica, Jordyn Woods and more, participated in the challenge. Travis Scott jumped on the remix.
