Shenseea has been having a great year thus far. She has one of the hottest songs out right now, ‘Blessed’ and she will be hitting that On Da Reggae and Soca Tip stage. Do you know who Shenseea was before the music?

Shenseea was born Chinsea Lee, in Jamaica and she grew up singing in the church. She held her first show at the age of 8 singing Whitney Houston’s ‘The Greatest Love of All” Growing up in Kingston, Jamaica, Lee found her musical influences in Spice, Lady Saw and Vybz Kartel, who she would later collaborate with.

Once she found her voice, Shenseea knew that being a part of the dancehall scene is where she would be the most successful. She began posting covers and freestyles of ‘Treat Me Like Somebody’ by Tink and ‘OOOUUU’ by Young M.A and it was because of those videos, she became the first female artist to be signed to Romeich Entertainment label in 2016.

Within that same year, Shenseea appeared on the music scene with her hit single “Loodi” featuring Vybz Kartel. Since then she has also worked with Bunji Garlin, Christina Aguilera, and Nailah Blackman, who will also be on that On Da Reggae and Soca Tip stage.

Shenseea reached her big breakout with her single ‘ShenYeng Anthem’ which gained a total of 6.1 million U.S. streams according to Nielsen Music. The artist is now signed to Interscope Records becoming the label’s first dancehall artist.

This past May, Shenseea released her major-label debut ‘Blessed’ featuring Tyga. The song landed the number 2 spot on Billboard’s Reggae Digital Song Sales chart.
