Jacob Blake’s handcuffs have been removed as he is still recovering in the hospital.

Earlier this week, we reported on the outrage that Jacob Blake Sr. shared after learning that his son, who was in the back at close range by Kenosha police officers and left paralyzed from the waist down, was handcuffed to his bed.

According to Sgt. David Wright, the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson, Blake was arrested because he had felony warrants for alleged crimes he committed before being shot by police.

The family’s attorney, Patrick Cafferty stated that the felony arrest warrants have been dropped and that the deputies are no longer stationed in his hospital room.

Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old  unarmed black man, was shot seven times in the back by Kenosha police officer Rusten Shesky as he was trying to get in his car with his children. It was reported that Blake was trying to break up a fight between two women. When the police arrived on the scene, Blake turned and walked away to let the police take over.

Since the shooting, Shensky has been placed on administrative leave while officials investigate the entire incident caught on video.
