21 Savage is not alone in his fight for freedom.

Jay-Z is putting out a helping hand in the rapper’s attempt to be released after being detained by ICE due to an expired visa.

He and Roc Nation hired Alex Spiro to help with the rapper’s legal proceedings according to Variety.

In a statement Jay-Z wrote the following: “the arrest and detention of 21 Savage is an absolute travesty, his U visa petition has been pending for 4 years. In addition to being a successful recording artist, 21 deserves to be reunited with his children immediately, #Free21Savage.”

Spiro also gave his own statement to the publication.

“We are not going to stop until he is released, bonded out or in front of a judge,” he said. “What we have here is someone who overstayed their Visa with an application pending for 4 years – not a convicted criminal that needs to be detained and removed but, by all accounts a wonderful person, father, and entertainer who has a marijuana offense which was vacated and sealed.”

According to the Rolling Stone, the rapper was set to perform this Sunday at the Grammys.

A source close to Post Malone’s camp confirmed that the rapper was set to appear with Post during his performance at the Sunday night ceremony. The pair planned to perform their hit (and Grammy-nominated) single “Rockstar,” as part of a larger performance that also included Malone’s separate performance with Red Hot Chili Peppers. (The RHCP collaboration will still go on as scheduled.)
