In 2011, Wayne gave this project to fans to apologize for waiting on Tha Carter IV. At the time, Tha Carter V had several delays due to contractual disputes between Lil Wayne and Cash Money Records. Wayne and CEO Birdman also had personal issues. They’ve since hashed it out and made amends.
