You can have fun in the sun this summer, but we still have to be mindful of the pandemic.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that NYC beaches will open for swimming starting July 1. Masks won’t be required to be worn in the water, but it’s still required while on the beach. Group activities will not be allowed and beach chairs/blankets must be 10 feet apart.

Lifeguards will be on duty and they’re being trained to prepare for the reopening, CNN reports.

De Blasio said, “It will be a great day for NYC, another part of our comeback to have our beaches up again.”
