Fans are anticipating Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. boxing match but it looks like they’re going to have to wait.
According to reports, the eight-round boxing event was set to take place on September 12 but the date has been pushed back for November 28. The Jasmine Brand reports Mike’s team pushed the date back to Thanksgiving weekend in order to make enough money as possible. Event organizers also wanted more time to work our international deals and getting the fight on pay per view.
The company behind the event, Triller, said the change happened in order to accommodate a larger than expected audience. TMZ reports Mike said he wanted to give more people a chance to see it.
“Changing the date to November 28th will give more people the opportunity to see the biggest comeback in boxing history.”
Undercard fights were added to the event between Badou Jack and Blake McKernan. Badou is one of Floyd Mayweather’s fighters. Another match will be between Viddal Riley vs. Rashad Coulter.
The Tyson vs. Jones fight will reportedly be sanctioned and scored by a recognized sanctioning body. The winner receives a specially-commissioned belt.
