Robert Kelly’s legal team was hoping their client would get released early after getting beat up but it’s looking like a no.
Reported on TMZ, the disgraced singer’s lawyers requested for R. Kelly to be released on bail after he was attacked last month at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago. According to a report, the inmate put paws on R. Kelly while he was sitting in his cell on his bed when the attack happened. The “Bump N Grind” singer almost got stabbed with a pen, according to reports. The inmate was reportedly angry because the jail kept going on lockdown due to R. Kelly protesters marching for his freedom.
The fight was quick and R. Kelly wasn’t severely injured. His legal team wanted to use this as a reason for their client to get out on bail, but the jail decided to move the angry inmate instead. So boom, problem solved.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the feds say the attack won’t happen again since the inmate was removed. Prosecutors believe R. Kelly is a threat to society and a flight risk so he shouldn’t be released.
