Over the weekend Regina King’s son, Ian Alexander Jr., passed away.
King confirmed the tragic news in a statement to People on Friday. “Our family is devastated at the deepest level by the loss of Ian,” the statement read. “He is such a bright light who cared so deeply about the happiness of others. Our family asks for respectful consideration during this private time. Thank you.”
Ian’s had just celebrated his 26th birthday on Wednesday. Reports confirm that Regina’s only son, Ian, died by suicide.
Following his passing, Regina and her family have received an outpouring of love from fans, friends, social media users and many alike.”I am lifting and holding you up. LOVE you Regina King and I am so sorry,” wrote Viola Davis via Twitter.
