George Cacioppo, 64, the senior Vice President of Sony PlayStation, is in a serious legal situation.
Cacioppo, who worked with the company for eight years, was fired after his alleged involvement in a pedophile sting. He was allegedly trying to meet up with a 15-year-old boy. Sony released a statement, “We are aware of the situation, and the employee in question has been terminated from employment.”
He hasn’t been criminally charged as of yet. NY Post reports Adam Sharki, a spokesman for the San Diego Police Department, said: “there is an active investigation being led by the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC).”
The sting was captured by an amateur operation, People v. Preds. Their mission is to catch sexual predators who meet victims online.
According to the sting operation, Cacioppo was trying to meet the 15-year-old boy at 4:30 a.m. It was captured on YouTube. You can see the cameraman talk to Cacioppo (aka “Jeff”), who was also wearing a black PlayStation 5 T-shirt. The cameraman asked Cacioppo who he’s meeting tonight. The camera man said, “We can have a conversation or I can call the cops.” Then the Cacioppo turns around and walks back in the house. After that he started to make threats that he’s going to call the police.
According to the news outlet, before the meet-up, Cacioppo contacted the decoy minor on Grindr, (a dating app for gay, bi, trans and queer people.) Then the two exchanged pictures and Cacioppo told the decoy that his name was “Jeff.” Cacioppo allegedly gave his address so the teen boy could come over and have sex.
