On Thursday (Nov. 19), hip hop fans were gearing up to see the battle of Atlanta as T.I. accepted Jeezy’s challenge for a battle.

While there was excitement over the battle, the hip hop community continuously spoke about what a possible Gucci Mane and Jeezy Verzuz battle would look like.

Timbaland and Swizz Beatz listened, and Gucci Mane late last night announced the new look battle for Thursday night.

As the internet exploded in excitement, T.I. addressed the battle on his own Instagram page.

“Now THIS…. Is what the people wants to see,” he wrote. “Trap Muzik salutes y’all.”

Jeezy and Gucci Mane have been involved in a longstanding beef for years. Issues between the two sparked when the two appeared on the 2005 single “So Icey,” which was produced by Zaytoven. The two artists both wanted rights to the song to put on their album. It was eventually added to Gucci Mane’s 2005 album Trap House. This meant Jeezy could not use it on his project Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101, or even get paid off of his feature. On May 10, 2005, this led to disses on various tracks, including the track “Stay Strapped” which put a bounty on Gucci’s chain. This resulted in four men breaking into a house Gucci was visiting, where Gucci shot at at eventually killed Pookie Loc. He was later acquitted of murder after claiming self-defense. Over the years, bother camps would be involved in various disses and fights since.

Jeezy vs Gucci Mane Verzuz airs Thursday, November 11, at 8PM EST on Instagram Live and Apple Music.
