The Weeknd is not happy about the announcement of recent Grammy nominations.

The singer announced that he plans to boycott the Grammy Awards and stated that he will no longer attend the award show or submit his music for consideration for upcoming awards shows, due to believing that he was snubbed in certain Grammy categories.

According to reports, he stated  “Because of the secret committees, I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys.”

He continued, “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans, and the industry transparency.

The Hollywood Reporter states that Harvey Mason Jr., the Recording Academy chief responded back to The Weeknd’s claim saying, “We can empathize with what he’s feeling… His music this year was excellent, and his contributions to the music community and broader world are worthy of everyone’s admiration. “

He also stated, “We were thrilled when we found out he would be performing at the upcoming Super Bowl and we would have loved to have him also perform on the Grammy stage the weekend before. To be clear, voting in all categories ended well before The Weeknd’s performance at the Super Bowl was announced, so in no way could it have affected the nomination process. All Grammy nominees are recognized by the voting body for their excellence, and we congratulate them all.”
