Young Thug is keeping it transparent with fans.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, he spoke about his near-death experience at the beginning of the pandemic.
Young Thug said, “I kinda just stayed in the bed and I was like, ‘Yo, call the ambulance. I can’t move my body.’” He continued,
“Then later, when the ambulance came, I couldn’t get out of the bed. They had to get me out of the bed, basically. I felt like my whole body was numb and I couldn’t move. I went to the hospital and I had found out that I had liver and kidney failure. And I kinda had sorta passed away, like I kinda died.”
Young Thug first shared that he had a “near-death” experience back in April but didn’t provide details on what happened. However, he did say, “drugs, don’t do drugs.” It’s not clear what led to his kidney and liver failure, but it seems like Thugger is taking his health more seriously.
He has an upcoming album dropping called Punk. The Jasmine Brand points out Thug said he could talk about real-life situations after being home for so long during quarantine. He said,
“With Punk I tapped into more real world. I’m just rapping more about life situations, because I had time to sit down and actually reflect and think [during the pandemic].”
Punk drops October 15.
