Alicia Keys is still dealing with the pain from a situation that happened 20 years ago.
The singer released a book, More Myself: A Journey, and is opening up about her childhood, fame, and where she’s at now.
In one of the parts if the books, she talks about a time when a photographer convinced her reps that they needed to shoot alone. This made her feel uncomfortable. Alicia says the photographer “pushed her boundaries” when he asked her to take off some of her clothes.
She says it left her feeling ashamed and objectified. This was right before she blew up and before she released her 2001 debut album, Songs in A Minor. She felt that if she didn’t do it, it would hurt her career.
“Pull the top of your jeans down a bit in the front,” he urges,’ she wrote in the book. ‘If I say no, what doors will be closed to me? I swallow my misgivings, tuck my thumb between the denim and my skin, and obey,’ Daily Mail reports.
After it was finished she got emotional. She was “dismayed” when the photos “materialized in a publication that went on sale.”
