Back in the 1990’s, Bad Boy had all the biggest and hottest artists on their label from The Notorious B.I.G, Mase, Faith Evans, and many more. They were the movers and shakers of the music scene.
Over the years, people developed a theory that being signed to Bad Boy wasn’t as amazing as it seemed. There were rumors of deals gone wrong, missing money, bribery, and the idea of a “Bad Boy curse” developed. This theory said that anyone associated with Diddy and the label Bad Boy will run into trouble, their career will fail, or they’ll end up in prison, like Loon and Shyne.
Slim of 112, who was signed to Bad Boy from the early 90’s to 2002, interviewed with Vlad TV and denied the “Bad Boy curse” idea. Slim called the theory “comical and said 112’s career wasn’t a failure.
“We didn’t have a fail in our career. Here we go, I mean, we left there and it had really had nothing to do with Puff, per se. There was another entity that was going on at the same time. Which, how the paperwork was set up, we had no choice. It’s not what we wanted to do, but we did what we had to do.”
“When I hear the ‘Bad Boy Curse,’ which part of the career of albums are you gonna say was a curse?… Multiplatinum singers with multiplatinum albums on a label that’s supposed to be a curse. We didn’t experience that.”
