Congratulations are in order for Cardi B!

The Bronx rapper becomes the the 1st female artist to be named ASCAP Songwriter of the year, twice. Due to COVID-19, the ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards will air virtually beginning Wednesday (July 15) until Friday (July 17). This awards honor the top songwriters in R&B, hip-hop, and gospel.

This is the 2nd year in a row that Cardi was name songwriter of the year. Although Cardi is making history with this honor, she isn’t the first to win the award- she’s just the first to win in twice. She is among the likes of Kandi Burruss who won in 2000, Alicia Keys who won in 2005, and Mary J. Blige who won in 2007.

While we’re still waiting for Bardi to drop new music, we’ll sending her a huge congratulations.
