The stars of the 1996 film, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Vivica A. Fox, Queen Latifah, and Kimberly Elise spoke out against the production. Now Issa Rae is speaking out about it, and it turns out, a remake was never in the works!
Reported on Atlanta Black Star, Issa was actually “confused” as to how the rumor got started.
“Oh, I would never remake a classic,” said Rae. “I don’t know where that came from.”
The closest we’ve ever gotten to a remake was last year, Set It Off made it’s way to a live stage, and it starred Da Brat, Drew Sidora, Lil’ Mo, and Keshia Knight Pulliam. The live show also played in 2018 with other various stars.
