Big Pun is considerably known as the biggest Latino hip-hop artist of all time. 

 

Born Christopher Rios, the Bronx native came on the scene in 1995. Discovered by Fat Joe, his first hit record “I’m Not a Player,” climbed its way to the rap charts reaching No. 3. Following up, his album Capital Punishment hit No. 1 on the hip-hop/R&B charts and he became the first Latino rapper to go platinum.

 

Big Pun is a staple in the Latin community, as well as the hip-hop culture. Always representing for his Puerto Rican heritage, Big Pun made history and his legacy lives on. Big Pun unfortunately passed away on February 7, 2000, gone too soon.
