A tragedy occurred during a Travis Scott show last night.

According to CNN, there are at least eight people confirmed dead, and many others injured after the crowd pushed forward as Travis Scott started his performance on stage at Astroworld Friday night.

It all went down at about 10PM EST last night as the festival was held at NRG Park.

Fire Chief Samuel Pena addressed details of the incident during the press conference following the tragic event where he said the crowd rushed the stage and people began to pass out because they could not breathe. Because of the location and the amount of victims emergency services were overwhelmed at the time he said.

“The crowd for whatever reason began to push and surge towards the front of the stage, which caused the people in the front to be compressed,” he said to CNN. “They were unable to escape that situation.”

Scott did end up begin performing his set last night until emergency vehicles began pushing through the crowd. An investigation is now taking place.

Astroworld’s official Twitter account announced a statement following the tragic incident.

Houston, Texas mayor Sylvester Turner also made a statement through his Twitter account.

KHOU reports, Astroworld has been cancelled for the rest of the weekend . There has been no comment from Travis Scott at this time.
