A Brooklyn principal has reportedly passed away from complications from the coronavirus.
The Council of School Supervisors and Administrators made the announcement on Monday (March 23th). “It is with profound sadness and overwhelming grief that we announce the passing of our sister, CSA member Dezann Romain, Principal of Brooklyn Democracy Academy, due to complications from Coronavirus.”
Brooklyn Democracy Academy is located in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. It is an alternative school for students who have struggled in other schools.
Romain is reportedly the first city Education Department employee to die from the virus. She was 36-years-old.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones.
