Could you imagine Drake being signed to Akon?
Well, according to
, it ALMOST happened! During an interview on Vlad TV, Akon revealed back in 2004/05, he had the chance to sign
, but passed on it. Akon said listening to Drake made him feel like he was listening to Eminem.
Akon was first introduced to Drake from a well known rapper in Canada, Kardinal Offishall. This was around the time right before “Best I Ever Had” went viral. Then Kardinal told Akon again that he should sign Drake but by this time, there was a
, and the lowest bid for Drizzy at the time was one million and Akon didn’t have it.
Akon said,
“Out of all the artists today, Drake to me, he is worth every single fu**in’ penny, every single penny–that motherfu**er’s genius. He’s revolutionary.”
