'Aunt Becky' + Dozen Others Are Reportedly Charged In Huge College Admissions Scam

This case is being referred to as the largest admissions bribery- ever. College sports coaches, standardized test administrators, as well as celebrities are amongst those being charged. Celebrities including Lori Loughlin also known as “Aunt Becky” from the hit show “Full House,” as well as “Desperate Housewives” star Felicity Huffman. Allegedly, these parents paid admissions consultant, William Singer, around $25 million from 2011 through February 2019. The intent was to bribe coaches and administrators to label their children as recruited athletes. The schools on the list feature some of the top elite schools, including Yale, Georgetown, Stanford, UCLA, as well as the University of Texas. Authorities are calling this a scam.The parents also reportedly paid people to take their children’s SAT’s or ACT exams, as well as bribing the testing centers to correct the answers on their children’s exams. Allegedly, Felicity and her husband “donated” $15,000 to Singer’s fake charity to cover up actually paying SAT proctors to correct the incorrect answers on the exams. Lori reportedly agreed to pay $5000,000 for her daughter’s to be recruited to the USC crew team. Singer has been charged with racketeering conspiracy, money laundering conspiracy, and obstruction of justice. Huffman and Aunt Becky may be charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud.We will keep you updated as this story develops.
